First, GTO. I liked it even tough it’s full of bizarre jokes. It’s amazing how much English wormed its way onto Japanese speaking. I mean, they directly say words like ‘party’, ‘thank you’, ‘ok’, ‘event’ (evento), ‘teacher’… Just like us, Spanish speakers. Maybe I thought Japanese were far more nationalists than we are.
All this honor sense that reigns through their educational system, versus the real vocation to protect and educate people, is interesting. If I weren’t what I am now, I’d be a teacher. So, I can understand the motivations of these people.
Great Teacher Onizuka is fun, is absurd, is tough, is caring. In a rough way, but caring all the same. That’s what matters, I guess.
And last but no least, I got my share of fantasy with Tactics (Namida-san, you are the best anime provider ever). It’s the classic telling of a priest that hunts demons with the help of a powerful demon-eater… I simply enjoy it. Specially when the dark, sleek, handsome demon himself is voiced by Takahiro Sakurai. This boy, being a good fellow, makes the voicing of two more characters I like: Cloud Strife, from Final Fantasy VII, and Dragon Shiryu, from Saint Seiya Hades.
And tonight I was wondering why the demon seemed so charming to me…
